Tannila (Yli-Ii)

Permitting ➔ Permitting Process is in the EIA Stage

Infinergies Finland Oy began planning the Tannila, Yli-Ii project in 2020. Initially, only wind power was planned for the area, but solar power was later added to the project plans. Solar power is primarily planned on former peat production areas. The Tannila project is located in the northern part of Oulu, approximately 15 km north of the Yli-Ii village centre.

Following the Northern Nordic Energy and Climate Regional Plan, the City of Oulus new Wind Power Strategy, and the results of nature surveys that have emerged, plans for wind turbines were abandoned, and planning for the area will continue solely as a solar power project. Solar panels are planned for an area of approximately 240 hectares within the project area.

Upon completion, this solar power project is estimated to have a maximum total capacity of approximately 188 MWp and an annual production of approximately 160 GWh. This corresponds roughly to the annual electricity consumption of 8,500 electrically heated single-family homes for families of four, assuming an average annual energy consumption of 19,000 kWh each.

The project’s EIA procedure takes into consideration, among other things, reindeer herding, nearby nature conservation areas, and wind power projects in the region.
