Halmemäki (Kärsämäki)
Component Master plan ➔ Permitting Process is in the EIA stage
Infinergies Finland Oy began planning a wind power project in Halmemäki, Kärsämäki, in 2020. The project area covers approximately 7,700 hectares and is located about 10 km southeast of the centre of Kärsämäki, bordering the municipal boundary of Pyhäjärvi to the south.
A maximum of 68 wind turbines are planned for the project area. Upon completion, the total capacity of the project’s wind turbines is estimated at 544 MW, and their estimated maximum annual production is approximately 1,360 GWh, or 1.36 TWh, of energy. This corresponds to the annual electricity consumption of nearly 72,000 electrically heated single-family homes for a family of four, assuming an average annual energy consumption of 19,000 kWh each.
An environmental impact assessment report is currently being prepared for the project, and a draft plan is being developed.
