Korteperä (Haapajärvi)

Component Master Plan ➔ Draft Zoning Plan in preparation

Infinergies Finland Oy began planning the Korteperä project in Haapajärvi, Northern Ostrobothnia, in 2021. The project area is located northeast of the town of Haapajärvi, approximately 5 km from the town centre.

Up to 14 wind turbines are planned for the Korteperä project area. The planning of the Korteperä project has taken into consideration the nature conservation areas, the specific characteristics of the flora, fauna and terrain, as well as the nearby wind power projects. Upon completion, the project’s 14 wind turbines will have a total installed capacity of approximately 112 MW and are estimated to generate a maximum of approximately 280 GWh of clean renewable energy per year. This corresponds to the annual electricity consumption of nearly 15,000 four-person families living in electrically heated single-family homes, assuming an average annual energy consumption of 19,000 kWh each.

The EIA process for the Korteperä project concluded with a positive decision, and the draft plan was completed in the spring of 2025. A plan proposal for the project is currently being prepared, and the next step is to plan the project’s power transmission and infrastructure. Some clarifications to the draft plan regarding nature and environmental studies are also being made.
