Välikangas (Haapajärvi)

In production

In 2012, Infinergies Finland Oy began planning the Välikankangas and Ristiniitty wind power projects in the Haapajärvi area of Northern Ostrobothnia. The projects were planned as separate projects until they were combined into a single Välikangas wind farm after construction. The wind farm has a total of 24 wind turbines, 8 of which are located in Ristiniitty and 16 in Välikangas. Construction of the wind farm was completed in October 2021.

The Välikangas wind farm produces renewable electricity using V150 (4.3 MW) turbines by Vestas. The total installed capacity of the turbines is 103.2 MW, producing an estimated maximum of approximately 456 GWh of emission-free, renewable energy per year. This corresponds to the annual electricity consumption of approximately 24 000 four-person households living in electrically heated detached houses, each with an average annual energy consumption of 19 000 kWh.

This project was realised in cooperation with ABO Energy Finland Oy.
