Urakkaneva (Ylivieska)
fully licensed; Preparations for construction are underway
In 2010, Infinergies Finland Oy began planning the Urakkaneva wind power project in Ylivieska, Northern Ostrobothnia. The Urakkaneva project will include the construction of a total of 9 wind turbines and a battery storage area. The battery storage area has been approved for construction near Fingrid's Uusnivala substation, in the municipality of Nivala. An environmental impact assessment and a partial master plan were drawn up for the Urakkaneva wind power project in 2015–2018, but the City Council of Ylivieska rejected the plan by a majority of one vote.
At the initiative of the City Council of Ylivieska, the Urakkaneva project was reactivated in 2019. New land lease agreements were signed for the project, a new environmental impact assessment was conducted and a new local master plan was drafted. The project is now fully permitted and ready for construction.
When completed, the Urakkaneva wind farm will have an installed capacity of approximately 60 MW and will generate an estimated maximum of approximately 180 GWh of emission-free, clean energy. This corresponds to the annual electricity consumption of nearly 9500 electrically heated detached houses with four occupants, with an average energy consumption of 19 000 kWh per year.
This project is being realised in cooperation with ABO Energy Suomi Oy.
