Siikalatva (Honkakangas)
Component Master Plan ➔ Permitting process is in the EIA
Infinergies Finland Oy began planning the Honkakangas wind and solar power project in Siikalatva, Northern Ostrobothnia, in 2020. The project, covering an area of nearly 3,700 hectares, includes plans for up to 27 wind turbines and a solar power area of approximately 180 hectares. The project is located approximately 7 km west of the Kestilä municipal centre, approximately 10 km northeast of the Pulkkila municipal centre, and approximately 18 km north of Piippola.
An environmental impact assessment report is currently being prepared for the project, and a draft plan is being developed.
Upon completion, the total capacity of the wind turbines will be approximately 216 MW, with an estimated maximum annual production of approximately 540 GWh. The maximum capacity of the solar power plant will be approximately 163 MWp, with an estimated annual production of approximately 139 GWh. The combined maximum annual output is, therefore, approximately 679 GWh, which corresponds to the annual electricity consumption of nearly 36,000 four-person families living in electrically heated single-family homes, assuming an average energy consumption of 19,000 kWh each.
